About Real Code

Real Code is led by Brad McAllister — a senior developer with 20+ years' experience — and delivered with associate engineers who work alongside him on client builds and can cover your retainer. You deal directly with Brad, and your systems never depend on one person.

No corporate jargon, no impossible promises. After 20+ years building websites and software, we work with established businesses that need systems integrated and workflows automated, larger organisations needing complex database and cloud integrations, schools needing secure portals — and local SMEs who need a fast, effective brochure site.

We run Real Code from London — 86-90 Paul Street, EC2A — as a web design and development practice serving the whole of the UK remotely. Our London web design guide explains how we work with businesses in the capital, and web development services cover the bespoke, database-backed side of the work.

How we work

A lot of agencies build disposable websites. We take a different path: reliable, proven technologies like Astro, TypeScript, and Microsoft Azure that stay stable for years — and fixed-price contracts, so you know the cost before work starts, with no scope creep or hidden extras.

What we do:

  • Bespoke Software & Integrations: Delivering complex .NET, SQL Server, and cloud architecture projects for clients ranging from ambitious startups to institutions like a major London university.
  • Technical Consultancy: Providing expert guidance on GDPR compliance, security audits, database administration, and technical rescues for failing digital projects.
  • Education Sector Solutions: Developing specialised, secure platforms and integrations tailored specifically to the unique needs of UK schools.
  • Web Design & Development: Creating fast, accessible, and responsive websites designed to generate genuine leads and perform well in search engines.

Brad’s track record

  • Major London university (2025–present): lead engineer and technical escalation point for the Salesforce–SITS–Canvas integration ecosystem on Azure — see the case study.
  • London university (2018–2025): lead engineer for integrations across 20+ enterprise applications (including SITS, door-control, library, catering and Moodle systems), led the migration from the legacy student record system to SITS, and database administrator across 45 SQL Server instances.
  • UK university (2015–2017): ASP.NET systems for managing courses, programmes and coursework-extension applications, integrated with institutional systems — see the case study.
  • Job-board publisher (2014–2015): modernised a job-board platform and its SFTP data synchronisation, letting over 500 clients publish their own interactive business profiles — see the case study.

Why work with us?

One accountable lead. Brad scopes, builds and stays responsible for every engagement — no account managers, no hand-offs.

More than one pair of hands. Associate engineers work alongside Brad on builds, so there is always someone who can step in.

No single point of failure. Your source is backed up in GitHub, every Sprint ends with a handover walkthrough, and you own the code and data, so any competent developer can pick up where we leave off.

For most businesses, technology is a means to an end: systems that work, generate revenue and don't break when you're not looking. That's what we build — and we stick around, adapting things as your business grows.

Your domain, code and logins are registered in your name, and your hosting is too if you have your own — otherwise we supply managed hosting you can move away from at any time. The source is always backed up — in GitHub, or as full backups for WordPress sites — so you are never dependent on one person, and never locked in.
